Yes. Colorado is a no-fault state, which means you do not need to prove wrongdoing to file. Either spouse can file stating the marriage is irretrievably broken. This does not mean the process is automatic — contested issues around property, custody, and support still require strategy and advocacy in the 8th Judicial District.
It depends on the matter. An uncontested divorce can finalize shortly after Colorado's 91-day waiting period. Contested divorce with custody and asset disputes can run 9 to 18 months. A custody modification or support modification can resolve in a few months if uncontested, or go to a hearing in Larimer County if disputed. We will give you a realistic timeline at the free consultation based on your specific facts.
Yes. Child support, spousal maintenance, and parenting time orders can all be modified when there has been a substantial and continuing change in circumstances.
